Cookie policy
Effective date: 1 January 2026 · Last updated: 17 May 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Amigoo Ltd ("Amigoo", "we", "us", "our") uses cookies and similar technologies (collectively, "cookies") when you visit www.amigoo.co.uk, amigoo.co.uk, or use the Amigoo web and mobile applications (the "Service"). It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website or use an app. They are widely used to make sites work, to make them work more efficiently, and to provide reporting and personalisation. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, pixels, SDKs and device identifiers, all of which we refer to as "cookies" in this policy.
2. Categories of cookies we use
2.1 Strictly necessary
Required to deliver the Service you have requested — for example, to sign you in, keep your session secure, remember your language and accessibility preferences, process payments and prevent fraud. These cannot be switched off in our systems.
2.2 Functional
Remember choices you make so the Service behaves the way you expect — your selected target language, chosen AI friends, voice playback preferences, and learning progress checkpoints.
2.3 Analytics
Help us understand how people use Amigoo so we can improve it — pages visited, lessons started, features used, errors encountered. Where required, this is set only with your consent.
2.4 Marketing
Used to measure the effectiveness of our campaigns and, where you consent, to show you relevant Amigoo content on other platforms. We do not sell your personal data to advertisers.
3. Third parties
Some cookies are set by trusted partners that help us run the Service, including Supabase (authentication, database, file storage), Stripe (payments), and analytics providers. These parties act as data processors under our instructions and are bound by appropriate contractual safeguards, including the EU Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable.
4. How long cookies stay on your device
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain until they expire or you delete them — typically between 30 days and 24 months, depending on purpose.
5. Managing your choices
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies at any time through our cookie banner or by clearing site data in your browser. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings — see the help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox or Edge. Disabling strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the Service from working.
6. Do Not Track
We honour the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where required by law and treat it as a request to opt out of non-essential cookies and the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in technology, regulation or our practices. Material changes will be highlighted in-app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the most recent revision.
